La Presa

11:54 AM

We were supposed to go to La Trinidad for some Strawberry picking but we decided to go to where La Presa is located since it's now a famous destination in Benguet.

After several research and questions asked to the locals of Benguet.
I therefore conclude that La Presa is just a fictional name.
It became a tourist destination because this is where the hit teleserye "Forevermore" set is located.

The Real name of La Presa before it became renowed is actually "Sitio Pungayan"
in Tuba, Benguet. It's a small village near Mount Cabuyao and yes, you have to trek in order to reach this beautiful scenery.

We had our private vehicle on our way up and we saw several people trekked up the mountain. We never saw a Jeepney but we were told that you can rent a taxi for about 250 php. We were surprised
because we never encountered a bumpy road and on our way up is literally flawless.

We didn't know where to stop so we went up 'till we saw a long line of private vehicles on the road.
From there, we knew we reached our destination. We had to leave our car on the side of the road and trekked for about 15 minutes to reach the famous "La Presa" lcoation.

I was hesitant at first because the place is flooded with people but the view made me want to trek for more. I swear, it's worth it. According to the locals, we are still lucky because the number of people in the area is not even 1/4 of the actual number of people visiting La Presa most specially when there is taping of Forevermore. Maybe because we came around 6:30 in the morning.

This is the famous house people are talking about. I am not a fan of Forevermore but my sister who keeps on chasing the lead cast "Enrique Gil" wanted to take her chance to see her ultimate crush.
She said this is the main area of the actual taping. This is where the Lead star Liza Soberano is living.
According to one of the locals we spoke to, they taped here twice or thrice a week! Can you just imagine? they have to go to Baguio every week!

Feeling Agnes and Xander
Hopeful :)

My sister trying to check if there's people inside the house but she is heart broken. The cast packed up the night before we came and will be back the next day after we leave! Bad fate it is.

Though my sister is heart broken,  she felt like a winner because the place is really beautiful and we were freezing to death. so make sure you are well covered because since this is located on top of the mountain, expect freezing weather.

We asked the locals on where we could do strawberry picking. They told us to look around and try to see if there's anything left. To our dismay, this is not the place we expected it to be.
There is really a strawberry field but you can only see few strawberries left. I don't know if it's being used in the taping or it's gone because of the number of tourists going up everyday.

We decided to go La Trinidad for our Strawberry Picking then. After visitng La Trinidad which I will post on a separate entry. I have no regrets visitng La Presa! They may not have a big strawberry field like those of La Trinidad but the view is just so alluring. Scenery that you can't see in La Trinidad.

The Actual View, the famous giant radar and the slopes we had to trek on our way back to the car

When the sky is clear (not obstructed by the fog) you will clearly see the garden terraces and a clear view of the mountain which is breath taking!

 The Verdict:

The place is not really for Strawberry picking not like what you see in the teleserye. I think the teleserye Forevermore helped a lot in advertising this little gem of Benguet but I don't think the celebrities are the only reason why people wants to go here; because the place is really fascinating.

Maybe for some, it's an added attraction to see local celebrities but upon observing the people who failed to see the celebrities they've been dreaming about; I heard them praising the beauty of Sitio Pungayan now known as Sitio La Presa.

Every angle is just so beautiful which you can hashtag as View from the Sky. Honestly, I enjoyed the few minutes I had in La Presa more than I enjoyed my stay in Baguio City. That's because you will really appreciate the nature and savor the fresh air while looking at the crowd taking pictures everywhere.

This place deserves to be recognized and I wish that the locals can maintain the cleanliness of this little gem so even after the hit teleserye, people will still visit this place. Thanks to "Forevermore"
for making the place popular and for helping the locals as well because souvenirs are now being sold all over the place. I would definitely go back here!
