Potipot Island

2:05 PM

Summer is on! I've been thinking for quiet some time on where to go for this season until I decided to go to Potipot Island. Originally I planned to go there with few friends but it turned out to be a fun trip with my office friends. Potipot Island is located in Candelaria, Zambales.

Approximately 105 KM from Subic or almost 2 hours. It's really a long drive from manila so it's advisable to leave manila  early in the morning. We rented a Van and planned to leave manila around 7am but it was delayed because we had a problem with the van we rented. Since we had so many stop over, we reached Candelaria around 4pm. We got so tired with the travel time but if you're going there as a group, it's really fun.

When we reached Candelaria, we parked our van and headed to the island. We paid 200 php for an overnight parking fee and waited for the boat. While waiting, we were surrounded by little kids who were raised and born in the area. We gave them food and coins and we got carried away with their smiles.

From the mainland, you can already see the island and this made me so excited because it's really beautiful even from afar. We paid 100 php each for a 2 way fare for the boat and it took as less than 10 mins to reach the island.

It's almost dark so we had to move faster, we helped each other in fixing our things and started to produce fire for cooking. Since we didn't bring tents, we rented a kubo for 2,000 php. It's a bit pricey but considering that it's peak season, we couldn't do anything. On the lighter note, the kubo is so big. It has one room that can fit around 20 pax. If you're planning for an overnight stay, you have to pay 300 php each regardless if you have a tent or renting their kubo.

There's a Comfort room, mini store and a grilling station in the area but we opted set up our own grilling station beside our cottage.

We ate a lot and got drunk! I decided to take a quick dip and almost fell asleep on the sand. Believe me, you will love potipot even more during night time because of it's peaceful environment. It's really the best place for soul searching. The time seems so slow, we were amazed on how we manage to do a lot of things in few hours, time isamazingly slow in the island.

The next day, we got surprised on how we messed up our table. Since most  of us got drunk, we didn't bother to clean our messy station.

I roam around the place and saw several people on the island. Most of them stayed on their own tents and I kinda regret renting a kubo for 2,000 php since we didn't really used the kubo for a long time. I even slept on the sand. :)

Here's a pic of a tree house, this is not available for rent. It's said to be a place where the governor stays when he is around. ( The island was said to be managed by the governor)

Here's our 2,000 php kubo

The famous old tree. This looks scary for me. I don't know but i had gooseebumps when i looked at it closely that;s why i opted not to touch or climb on it.

Swimming time. Yes, as you can see, the water is very clear.

Oh, it's creamy sand.

Crystal clear

One of our favorite food

It's really my choice to stay under the sun and it works! I love my dark skin now.

Best place to rest.

Since this place is getting popular, and with the numerous number of people who visited the island. Expect that it won't be as clean as it was before. Yes, I am setting your expectation because i felt sad when i see grabage all around the area. People don't know how to clean their own mess and just throw it anywhere.
But overall, I highly recomment this Island. Actually, i didn'y expect anything since I don't want to get disappointed again. But it gave me so much satisfaction. If you're a person who doesn't want parties, want's to go in a soul searching or simple unwind. This place is perfect for you! I love the crystal clear water and it's creamy colored sand. I love the peaceful environment and the simple living with no electricity at all. I'm rwally proud to be born and raised in this tropical country. God gave us such a wondeful world!
